Banana Kush Feminized Seeds

Banana Kush is an indica-dominant feminized hybrid, a cross of Ghost OG and Skunk Haze known for its sweet banana and tropical fruit character; Leafly says it tastes and smells like a bushel of fresh bananas. As a guide, expect THC of about 21–23%. It is a moderate grow that flowers in roughly 8 to 9 weeks.

History & lineage

Banana Kush has a Cup record under its own name. A Banana Kush entered by Mile High Green Cross won the Indica Cup at the 2011 High Times Denver Medical Cannabis Cup, and a Banana Kush from the same dispensary placed 3rd for Medical Indica at the 2013 High Times US Cannabis Cup in Denver.

The cross is Ghost OG × Skunk Haze. Ghost OG is a cut of OG Kush, and it has a Cup placing of its own: a Ghost OG Kush entered by The Clinic placed 3rd for Medical Hybrid at that 2013 Denver Cup. SeedFinder carries Crockett Family Farms’ account of making a Banana Kush from these two: Crockett crossed the Ghost OG, a cut chosen for its nug size and yield, with a local Skunk Haze whose seeds went back to the early 1970s, pairing a very indica plant with a very sativa one. Crockett’s own version was only ever sold as regular seeds. The strain has carried on in others, too: Leafly lists Banana Sherbet as a cross of Banana Kush and Sunset Sherbet, the line behind our Banana Sherbert Autoflower.

Expect ripe banana and tropical fruit over an earthy base. For Banana Kush as a strain, Leafly users most often report sweet, tropical and tree-fruit flavours, followed by earthy and citrus. These are Leafly users’ reports for Banana Kush as a strain, most common first, and Leafly’s write-up describes a mellow buzz alongside a relaxed sense of euphoria. Some users also report feeling sleepy. Dry mouth and dry eyes are the downsides they mention most, and smaller numbers report dizziness, paranoia, headaches or anxiety. Growing Banana Kush

Banana Kush is a feminized photoperiod plant: it grows leaves until the light drops to 12 hours a day indoors, or until the days shorten outdoors. Leafly rates it a moderate grow with a medium height, and its grow guide says Banana Kush does best indoors, where a stable environment kept at about 20–27 °C (68–80 °F) gives the best yield. Expect up to around 500 g/m² (about 1.6 oz/ft²) indoors and up to around 500 g (about 17.6 oz) per plant outdoors. As a rough guide, plants run about 75–150 cm (2.5–4.9 ft), and topping in veg gives a bushier canopy with more bud sites, and a screen of green can spread a medium-height plant under the lights. Good airflow and steady humidity matter in late flower, and the trichomes tell you when to harvest better than the calendar.
