Bubble OG is a mostly indica feminized hybrid, a three-way cross of Bubble Gum, OG Kush and Skunk #1, with earthy, pine and skunk taste notes. It flowers in about 8 to 9 weeks indoors and finishes outdoors from late September to early October.

Its THC is listed at about 23%.

History & lineage

Bubble OG brings together three strains with long histories. Bubble Gum’s genetics are a little unclear, Leafly says, but it was first developed by growers in Indiana before it moved on to the Netherlands, where Serious Seeds and other breeders worked their own lines. OG Kush’s exact origin is hard to pin down too; the usual story has a Kush mix from Florida reaching southern California in the early 1990s, where it took off. Skunk #1, the third, is the parent behind a long line of Skunk crosses.

All three have Cup records of their own. Skunk #1, one of its parents, won the first High Times Cannabis Cup in 1988 (Cultivators’ Choice’s entry). Bubble Gum, another, placed second at the 1995 High Times Cannabis Cup and second in that year’s Hydro Cup (Grey Area’s entry). OG Kush, the third, won the Hybrid Cup at the 2011 High Times Medical Cannabis Cup in San Francisco (D & M Compassion Center’s entry).

Aroma & flavour

The listed taste notes are earthy, pine and skunk. Leafly has no page for Bubble OG itself, so it has no flavour reports for this cross. For its parents, Leafly users most often report sweet, berry and flowery flavours for Bubble Gum, and earthy, pine and woody ones for OG Kush, which puts the listed earthy and pine notes on the OG Kush side. Our terpene guide explains how compounds like these shape a smell.

Effects, as users report them

Most reportedHappy · Relaxed · Euphoric · Uplifted
Downsides reportedDry mouth · Dry eyes · Dizzy · Paranoid · Headache

Leafly has no user reports for Bubble OG, so these are Leafly users’ reports for two of its three parents, Bubble Gum and OG Kush, which come out in the same order for both, most common first. A cross won’t always feel like the strains in it, and the Skunk #1 side isn’t counted here. Dry mouth and dry eyes are the downsides reported most for both parents; smaller numbers report dizziness, paranoia or a headache. THC is listed at about 23%, and how it feels depends on the person and the dose, so if you are new to cannabis, start with a small amount.

Growing Bubble OG

Bubble OG is a feminized photoperiod plant, so it grows leaves until the light drops to 12 hours a day indoors, or until the days shorten outdoors, and then flowers for about 8 to 9 weeks. Outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere it finishes from late September to early October, so check that it will come in before your first autumn frost. Our seed-to-harvest timeline lays out the whole grow.

Expect indoor yields around 500–700 g/m² (about 1.6–2.3 oz/ft²) and up to about 700 g (25 oz) per plant outdoors. Expect a moderate grow. As a rough guide, plants run about 90–130 cm (3.0–4.3 ft), and plants outdoors usually grow taller than those in a tent. Topping and low-stress training help open up the canopy. Keep airflow up and humidity down in late flower to protect the buds from moisture problems, and judge when to harvest by the trichomes.

Is Bubble OG right for you?

A good fit if
  • you want a mostly indica cross with OG Kush and Skunk #1 behind it and earthy, pine taste notes
  • you grow indoors, or outdoors where the season runs to early October

Maybe not if
  • you want to read user reviews of this exact cross first — Leafly has none yet, only for its parents
  • your outdoor season ends in September — an autoflower may suit you better
  • you are new to cannabis and want something mild — THC is listed at about 23%
