Specs and grow figures are a guide — results vary with phenotype, setup and grower. Checked October 2026.

Green Crack is a sativa-dominant feminized strain, 65% sativa and 35% indica, with a tangy flavour of lemon, mango and citrus and a reputation as a daytime strain. It is also known as Green Crush and Mango Crack, and a Green Crack placed 3rd for US Sativa Flower at the 2015 High Times US Cannabis Cup. It is rated easy to grow and flowers in about 8 to 10 weeks.

History & lineage

Leafly says Green Crack is loved for its energizing effects, and because its name puts some people off, some call it Cush or Green Cush instead; and it also goes by Green Crush and Mango Crack. Its early history is told in conflicting versions, so we don’t repeat them here. DNA Genetics lists the parents as Skunk #1 and an Afghan indica; Leafly lists the second parent only as an unknown indica. DNA notes that its seeds may produce two different phenotypes.

A Green Crack entered by Christopher Stine placed 3rd for US Sativa Flower at the 2015 High Times US Cannabis Cup in Denver, and Skunk #1, one of its parents, won the first High Times Cannabis Cup in 1988 (Cultivators’ Choice’s entry). For a shorter season, we also stock Green Crack Autoflower, an autoflowering version of the strain.

Aroma & flavour

Expect mango, citrus and tropical fruit on the nose, with herbal and floral undertones and only a hint of skunk. DNA Genetics describes a lemon flavour on the inhale that turns to sweet mango, then herbal, woody and spicy tones on the exhale. For Green Crack as a strain, Leafly users most often report citrus, earthy and sweet flavours, followed by pungent and pine, with mango close behind. Leafly’s lab data lists myrcene as its most abundant terpene, followed by caryophyllene and pinene; our terpene guide explains each one.

Effects, as users report them

Most reportedEnergetic · Happy · Uplifted · Euphoric · Focused
Downsides reportedDry mouth · Dry eyes · Paranoid · Anxious · Dizzy

These are Leafly users’ reports for Green Crack as a strain, most common first. Leafly calls it a daytime strain known for sharp energy and focus, and DNA Genetics describes a fast-acting cerebral buzz. Dry mouth is the downside users report most, then dry eyes, and smaller numbers report paranoia, anxiety or dizziness. DNA Genetics lists THC at 17 to 25%, and Leafly’s strain data puts it at about 17%. Effects vary with the person and the dose, so if you are new to cannabis, start with a small amount.

Growing Green Crack

Green Crack is a feminized photoperiod plant: it grows leaves and branches until the light drops to 12 hours a day, or until the days shorten outdoors, and then flowers for about 8 to 10 weeks. Outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere, expect to harvest in early October; DNA Genetics recommends a continental or Mediterranean climate, at least six hours of direct sun and shelter from strong wind. Leafly’s grow notes put its best temperatures at 21 to 27 °C (70 to 80 °F) with about 50% humidity.

DNA Genetics rates it easy to grow, even for beginners, indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse. It lists plants at up to about 90 cm (3.0 ft), though Leafly rates the strain tall, so leave some headroom. Expect indoor yields of about 500–600 g/m² (1.6–2.0 oz/ft²) and up to about 800 g (28 oz) per plant outdoors. Leafly’s grow notes say it does best with good air circulation, and clearing lower branches helps the air move; low-stress training or topping can spread the canopy for more even buds. Judge the finish by the trichomes: DNA suggests harvesting when most have turned from clear to cloudy, and our harvest timing guide shows what to look for.
