Skunk #1 is one of the most important strains in cannabis history — a foundational hybrid that has been used as a parent in hundreds of modern strains. First bred by Sacred Seed Co. in the late 1970s, this is the strain that proved cannabis could be bred for consistency and reliability.

Genetics & Lineage

Skunk #1 is a three-way cross of Afghani indica x Colombian Gold sativa x Acapulco Gold sativa. The Afghani parent was selected for its short stature, fast flowering, and heavy resin production. Colombian Gold and Acapulco Gold contribute uplifting sativa energy, larger yields, and the sweet, earthy terpenes that balance out the pungent skunk funk. It was one of the first true-breeding cannabis hybrids — producing uniform, predictable plants from seed.

Appearance

Skunk produces dense, chunky buds with a classic hybrid structure. Colors are bright green with orange pistils and a generous coating of trichomes. Plants grow with a sturdy, manageable frame — typically 80–140 cm indoors, with strong lateral branching that supports heavy colas. The overall look is classic cannabis: well-formed buds, good density, and solid bag appeal.

Aroma & Flavor

The aroma is exactly what you’d expect from a strain called Skunk — pungent, sour, and unmistakable. Beneath the sharp skunkiness, sweeter notes of earth, citrus, and herbal spice come through. The smell is strong throughout the grow, especially in late flower — carbon filtration is essential for indoor growers. On the inhale, expect sweet skunk and earth. Growing Information

Skunk is one of the easiest strains to grow — literally bred to be grown by anyone. It’s forgiving of mistakes, resilient to stress, and produces generous yields with minimal effort. Plants flower in 7–9 weeks indoors (typically 8 weeks) with yields around 400–500 g/m². Outdoors, expect harvest by late September to early October with yields of 500–600 g per plant. Plants stay manageable in height and respond well to any training technique.
